Alamillo Park is a park located in the municipality of Santiponce (Seville) and the Andalusian city of Sevilla (Spain). Currently enjoys enormous popularity and is also one of the best examples of forest Mediterranean climate.
History and description
The Parque del Alamillo is a facility of the regional government, which covers 50 hectares of the northernmost part of the Isla de la Cartuja, an area located between the old and new channels of the river Guadalquivir, which was recovered for the city because of the celebration of the Universal Exposition of Seville 1992.1
This is a place of Seville with Mediterranean vegetation consisting of trees such as elm, pine, poplar and oak, and especially the orange tree fragrance fills the air as the orange blossom when spring arrives. This park is planned around two lakes, Lago Grande and Lago Chico, and is also equipped with recreational facilities, leisure and sports. The signs describing the technical and vulgar names of vegetation, and their culinary uses. In this ecological journey through the park may also be known mammals, amphibians, reptiles and waterfowl that inhabit the park.
It is worth mentioning the so-called "Summertimes Alamillo, a program of cultural activities taking place in the months of July and August, which offers performances, rides, theaters and other activities aimed at both younger and the elderly.
On Sunday morning, among other things, swings, bikes and train rides in the park tire, we can enjoy the facility of Railway Alamillo. This is a miniature train track to 127mm path where both children and adults can enjoy electric and steam locomotives (which actually work with coal) in this installation of the Friends of the Railroad.
October 12 is the Birthday Bash Alamillo Park. That day was organized many activities among which are a great tasting cake, activities and travel in trains disfrurando nature park, the open air and freedom.
In the year 2009 has opened the old nursery at the Universal Exhibition of 1992 become reserve of flora and fauna, with an area of some 10 hectares. Also in future the park is planned to incorporate a large area of orange groves and other recreational and leisure areas, including the models of "Andalusian children."
Currently, both monitoring and maintenance cost is financed by the Junta de Andalucía.
